About us

Company history

The company was founded in 1990 by former R&D engineers of Carl Zeiss Jena. The engineers could convince an entrepreneur from Western Germany of the concept of the planned company. The entrepreneur made a financial contribution to the Jenaer Antriebstechnik GmbH and invested in a company building. Driven by innovative products, above all the ECOSTEP® drives, the engineering office became a manufacturing company. In 2004, the manufacturing space has been doubled again by a new building.

The ECOSTEP® consists of a servo amplifier which via sinusoidal commutation supplies the current for a multi-pole synchronous motor equipped with an encoder. The result is a low-budget servo drive which is designated by an advantageous relation between generated power dissipation and torque.

The company today

With a staff of 140 employees at 2 locations in Jena develops, manufactures and distributes the Jenaer Antriebstechnik GmbH servo drives and mechatronic systems.Sales activities are supported by an international network of distributors. Because of their versatility the products and systems of Jenaer Antriebstechnik can be found in various applications.

Primary areas of application are electronics manufacturing machines, laser systems, mounting automates and handling systems. Essential for all these applications is high dynamic and high speed. A further field where our drives can show all their advantages is the automation of continuous processes, e. g. in printing machinery.

Jenaer Antriebstechnik develops hardware and software basics for a new product generation ECOVARIO–FS.
This new servo amplifier series integrates functional safety (FS). Thus, drive solutions like gantry applications and comparable multi-axis kinematics can be implemented. Expensive external control ressources for the execution of safety functions can be omitted in the future.
